Getting Traffic To Your Website
For those of you with no web based business, please check out my archived articles for links and information on making money writing articles, reviews, posting comments, surveys and focus groups as well as marketing and PTC.
Any website has to find ways to get traffic and be seen. Good ways to get traffic and search engines to your site are:
Get a meta tag (do a search to find meta tags) or go to http://www.seochat.com/
They have a meta tag generator and analyzer (so you can see if you’ve made errors) that you can use. It is extremely important to find keywords that are reflected in the text of your website. There is a balance here. Over saturation in your content is not good and neither is not having any keywords in your content. Try for about 2% to have the best results. Meta tags help search engines find your site. To generate proper meta tags you can use free SEO tools. This can also help you with analyzing your keywords. Some people are now saying that site maps are not much of a help in getting search engines to crawl your page. If you do want to add a sitemap, Google webmaster tools are available to get you started.
Link to directories. This is vital to your traffic. Ideally, you will want one way links from quality directories. The reason you want to be in directories is because they will get your site seen and provide backlinks on search engines. You can pay to be added to some of the best directories, but there are many free directories as well. For free directories, you sometimes need to add a reciprocal link to your site. Be careful you don’t overdo reciprocal links. It does not look professional to have hundreds of reciprocal links on your blog. Give quality directories a link on your page for best results. This is free to do.
Submit your site to search engines. You can easily do this yourself at Google, Yahoo and MSN. You should also consider adding your site to smaller search engines. As you will probably find, there are many business that can do this for you for a price. The problem many new websites have is being crawled by major search engines, especially Google. One way to get listed in searches is to use your postings as articles and submit them to as many quality sites as you can. These are all free, so all you have to do is submit your article.

Add RSS feeds to your site. Try http://www.feedburner.com/
Be cautious in using traffic exchanges, although it definitely gets traffic to your site, it is not always in your best interests. It is not always considered fair traffic. Advertisers like Google may not find it an acceptable practice. Check Google policies for more information.
There are several businesses that can help make the most of your website optimization. Just remember, there is a lot of free information on the Internet that can save you money. Search for anything you are looking for first. If you have the time to do it, most of these things can be done for little or no cost.
For referral businesses and promoting your site, you may want to buy advertising packages at the paid to click sites that are well established. They offer very cheap advertising and you have the choice of many types of advertising: Paid to click, banners, side links, and opt in emails are all possibilities. I personally liked http://www.1-800-mail.com/. for their prices on email advertising and large membership.
